John E. Bell is Demand & Supply Integration (DSI) Forums Distinguished Scholar and Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining the UT faculty in August 2010, Dr. Bell was a career officer in the United States Air Force. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from Auburn University in 2003 and taught on the faculties at the Air Force Institute of Technology and Georgia College & State University prior to joining the University of Tennessee faculty. He also holds an MS in Logistics Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and a BS in History from the United States Air Force Academy. His research interests include supply chain networks, natural resource scarcity, vehicle routing, facility location, and supply chain risk. His publications have appeared in outlets such as the Journal of Business Logistics, European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Journal, Computers & Operations Research, and the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management. He is a frequent presenter at meetings of the Decision Sciences Institute, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, and other professional societies. In addition, he is a co-author of the book, Global MacroTrends and their Impact on Supply Chain Management published by Pearson Financial-Times.
